Night Blooming Cereus "Epiphyllum Hookeri"

Epiphyllum Hookeri, commonly known as the Hooker’s Orchid Cactus, is a stunning epiphytic cactus prized for its large, fragrant, night-blooming flowers. Native to tropical rainforests of Central and South America, this exotic plant thrives in warm, humid environments, often growing on tree trunks and rocky surfaces. It has long, trailing, flat green stems and breathtaking white blooms. The flowers, which can reach 8 to 12 inches in diameter, emit a sweet fragrance and open only at night.

The main differences between Hookeri and Oxypetalum variety can be seen in their blooms. Hookeri flowers have several slender petals and are slightly smaller in size. Both varieties open at night but Hookeri blooms more frequently and longer in the summer months. Their foliage is slightly more narrow and is generally more compact growing.

Ideal for hanging baskets or mounted displays, this low-maintenance cactus prefers indirect light, well-draining soil, and occasional watering to mimic its natural habitat. With the right care, it rewards growers with its enchanting nocturnal blossoms.
